Amman, the modern yet ancient capital city of Jordan, is our entry point on this memorable eight-day tour of a country brimming with Biblical and historic sites and one whose urban centres that are among the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. We see marvellous stone amphitheatres and striking temples in Jerash, once a wealthy city that is today considered one of the most important and best-preserved of all Roman sites. Travelling past Byzantine churches and along the shores of the Dead Sea, we head to the hidden valley of Petra, 'the rose red city half as old as time' and one of the highlights of our tour. Perhaps the most impressive archaeological site in the Middle East, Petra boasts attractions that rival the temples and pyramids of Egypt in grandeur and promises remarkable photo opportunities by the dozen. The gold-sand beaches on the banks of the Red Sea provide the most idyllic of settings in which to relax and our cultural exploration of the area includes mingling with Bedouin tribesmen -- the nomadic herdsmen of the desert who made up Lawrence of Arabia's army.

I was happy with all the excursions on the itinerary. Petra and little Petra and the neolithic site at Beida were wonderful. Wadi Rum was beautiful. Our Jordanian guide, was excellent. Excellent bus and driver. Excellent windows. All meals were very good. Our tour leader was observant, well organized and clear providing instructions and information. He made himself freely available to anyone who had a question or suggestion. He took time looking up information for us and showing us individually or the group as a whole. I highly valued his positive, cheerful, people-oriented attitude, and adventurous-exploratory openness to suggestions, questions, etc. Can t think of anything critical or of any improvements to be made in his leadership. Would enjoy traveling with him anywhere.

All excursions were excellent. Our local guide was very knowledgable, caring and expressed a deep love for his country. Very good transportation. Bus was very comfortable. The evening meal plan met my expectations. It was good to experience several local Jordanian restaurants. Our tour leader was very out going and cared that we were having a good time and that we were safe at all times. We were pleased that he was our tour leader and would recommend him. It was a great trip and would highly recommend the tour!

Really enjoyed the excursions to Petra, Jerash, Dead sea. Transportation was excellent. The meal plan was good, particularly the ones with local families. Our tour leader Lorna was thorough, organized, intelligent, well read. Went out of her way to provide opportunities to see and meet the people and enhance the travel experience. Good trip.
