    Where is the Adriatic Sea?
    An arm of the Mediterranean Sea, the Adriatic Sea separates the Italian Peninsula from the Balkan peninsula. It covers a relatively small area (around 500 miles long and 120 miles across at its widest point) but supplies up to one-third of the freshwater flow received by the entire Mediterranean. The southernmost point of the Adriatic is the Strait of Otranto, which borders the Ionian Sea.
