Chris Tripodi I travel because it is the most interesting thing I can think of doing between meals. The magic and the challenge of this job is seeing the world itself as the tour with several smaller journeys along the way. I enjoy that time at the end of one trip, before the start of a new one, where the sadness of leaving one place mixes with the excitement of approaching another. Read More
Lorna Lissner Lorna has been with Adventures Abroad for over 15 years, working both as a Tour Leader and a destination specialist in the office. Read More
Nicole Boycott I have been passionate about travel my whole life because it allows you to immerse yourself in a different world. Travel has inspired me to pursue studies such as history, archaeology, art and art history. Read More

Where to Go
Where To Go on Small Group Adriatic Tours
For such a relatively small area, the Adriatic Sea countries offer a rich tapestry of different cultures, languages, religion, art and cuisine. Every stop provides a tantalizing new experience and another photogenic moment — from the rolling alpine scenery of Slovenia and medieval castles of Montenegro to the sigh-inducing coastal scenery of Croatia.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the Adriatic Sea?
An arm of the Mediterranean Sea, the Adriatic Sea separates the Italian Peninsula from the Balkan peninsula. It covers a relatively small area (around 500 miles long and 120 miles across at its widest point) but supplies up to one-third of the freshwater flow received by the entire Mediterranean. The southernmost point of the Adriatic is the Strait of Otranto, which borders the Ionian Sea.
What are the Adriatic Countries?
Italy forms the entire western shore of the Adriatic while the majority of its eastern shore is dominated by Croatia and Albania. The remaining four countries that border the Adriatic coast are Albania, Slovenia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Adriatic Sea also has over 1000 islands, the majority of which are located near the coast of Croatia.
