- Do you need a visa to travel to Ecuador?The majority of citizens, including those of the US, Canada, EU, the UK and Ireland, Australia and New Zealand do not need a visa to enter Ecuador as tourists for stays of up to 90 days.
- Is Ecuador safe?Ecuador is considered one of the safer South American countries, although there have been rising crime levels in recent years. Tourists are advised to be wary of pickpockets and thieves, especially in crowded places and on public transport. When travelling at night, it’s also recommended to grab a taxi rather than wandering the streets. Unfortunately, kidnappings in taxis do happen so to mitigate the risk, make sure you call a registered taxi through your hotel rather than hailing one in the street.
- When is the best time to visit Ecuador?The weather in Ecuador varies between regions, so the best time to visit depends on where you’re travelling. On the mainland, the warmest and driest months are from June to September, while the coolest and wettest months are between January and May. Wildlife-watching and trekking can be enjoyed throughout the year, and the Galapagos archipelago is also considered a year-round destination.
