On this Peru tour, as our plane glides over the 2,000 year old Nazca Lines, we can hear about some of the theories as to why the ancient Nazca people put so much time and effort into constructing these massive engraved image across the landscape.
No one really knows what purpose these anomalies served, but seeing the intricate detail in the shapes of large monkeys or dogs suggests that these structures were of some importance at one time.
Then it's off to Machu Picchu, where we have another chance to get a bird's-eye view of these structures by climbing the surrounding slopes.
The legacy of ancient civilizations is not limited to these two world-renowned sites, but evidence of a lively past lies around every corner. Visit the Coricancha, also known as the Temple of the Sun, and realize how suiting it was to being one of the most important sites of the great Inca Empire.

This was probably one of the best trips I have been on. Machu Picchu was amazing and so were the Nazca lines. All of our local guides were wonderful. They had so much knowledge about their local areas. Meals exceeded my expectations. The food was wonderful and the portions were huge. All of the transportation was great. We had a wonderful tour leader. He made the trip very enjoyable and made it all look effortless. And he gave us more information than I can ever remember about what we were seeing.
+Leslie G. (West Vancouver, BC, CA)
Machu Picchu was the highlight of the tour, but we really enjoyed the variety of elements. All local guides were excellent and very knowledgeable. They brought a richness to our experience, great interpretation. We used many forms of transport, mostly bus which was comfortable and I liked having a window seat. All meals were great. I thought our tour leader did a great job and I would like to go on another tour with him in future!
