This tour is designed with mature travelers in mind, featuring comfortable accommodations and thoughtful pacing throughout. The adventure begins at sea level in Lima before ascending to Cuzco's 11,004-foot elevation, where we spend several days to allow proper acclimatization. Walking at Machu Picchu involves uneven stone surfaces and some steep sections, but the guided tours follow established pathways with rest stops. The Sacred Valley portion includes moderate walking on ancient terraces and cobblestone streets.
Train travel to Machu Picchu provides scenic comfort with panoramic windows, while the Amazon segment features gentle boat rides and nature walks on well-maintained trails. Our local guides are experienced with our groups and adjust the pace accordingly.
A night bag is required for the Machu Picchu overnight due to train luggage restrictions, though main luggage is transported separately. The Amazon lodge offers comfortable cabañas with modern amenities, and all rainforest activities are optional with varying difficulty levels clearly explained.
