More About Thailand
Well aware of its special reputation, Thailand has declared its motto as 'Amazing Thailand.' Steeped in tradition and met with warm and friendly locals, Thailand group tours offer a country with a bit of everything. Tropical paradise, ancient culture, exceptional cuisine, intricate temples, and complete comfort. Thailand group tours highlight a corner of Southeast Asia that embraces its visitors and leaves a positive lasting impression.
With Myanmar to the west, Malaysia to the south, Laos and Cambodia to the east, it is fair to say that Thailand occupies a space with a complex history. Inhabited for nearly 20,000 years, over the centuries Thailand has been ruled by the Chams, Khmers, Mons, Malays, and Tai peoples. Religion has shaped the spiritual landscape with Hinduism being introduced due to heavy influence by the culture of India before Buddhism became the ruling religion after the 11th century.
Golden temples seem to dot the landscape of Thailand, with jewelled details and extravagant carvings dazzling even the most intrepid of visitors. Some of the most famous religious sites in Thailand are found in Bangkok, such as the Wat Arun known as the Temple of Dawn, Wat Phra Kaew also known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Wat Suthat which is an important royal temple, Wat Pho known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, and more within the Grand Palace complex. Outside of Bangkok, much of the cultural highlights are found in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai with temples including Wat Rong Khun known as the White Temple, and Temple Naga with its seemingly infinite amount of glowing candles.
Collectively Thailand represents one of the most devoted countries to the Buddhist faith with nearly 95% of the country practicing the religion. Beyond the temples and heritage landmarks, Thailand has earned a reputation as a tropical paradise. Away from the hustle and bustle of its large cities are the small towns that are surrounded by tropical forests and rice paddy terraces. Karst mountains rise out of a forested landscape hiding pristine waterfalls beyond limestone cliffs. In the south, remote islands surrounded by emerald and topaz hued waters beckon the weary traveller to dip their toes beyond the soft white sands.
After rewarding days of exploration, Thai hospitality is usually found. From the fresh ingredients with meals that heavily feature with lemongrass, sweet chillies and seafood, each Thai dish is a welcome treat to the palate which has made this cuisine one of the world's favourite. Hotels on our Thailand group tours are well placed to serve a variety of needs with meals in local restaurants handpicked to showcase the culture and care that goes into each meal.
English speaking local guides infuse history with everyday life to better understand how the Thai people think and feel about their place in the world along. From the jungles to the beaches, the cities to the towns, and everything in between, Thailand group tours offer the chance to uncover what makes Southeast Asia a destination almost always on the top of a travellers wish list.
