- When is the best time to visit Peru?The best time of year to visit Peru is during its dry season (May-October), especially if you plan to trek to Machu Picchu. At this time of year, you can expect sunny days and crisp blue skies, but the nights are chilly so be sure to pack accordingly. The warmest weather is during summer (December – March), however, this is Peru’s wettest season and there are frequent heavy showers.
- Do you need a visa to travel to Peru?Citizens of the US, Canada, the EU, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK and Ireland do not require a visa to travel to Peru for stays of up to 183 days.
- Is Peru safe?Peru is considered a generally safe country for tourists. The main issues to be aware of are theft, bag snatching and pick-pocketing, all of which are common. While violent crime is rare, muggings do also happen. Travellers are advised to be especially vigilant in busy cities (including Lima), tourist hotspots and on public transport.
