Frequently Asked Questions

  •
Do you need a visa to travel to Chile?
Citizens from the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the EU do not need a visa for stays in Chile of up to 90 days. Greek nationals without a visa are only permitted to stay in Chile for up to 60 days. Citizens of Australian are required to pay a 'reciprocity fee' of US$117 when arriving in Chile by air.
  •
    Is Chile safe?
Chile is regarded as one of the safest countries in South America. The main concern travellers should be aware of is petty theft, which is particularly prevalent in major cities, bus terminals and at beach resorts during the summer months.
  •
When is the best time to visit Chile
The best time to visit Chile really depends on the area you travel to. If you’re heading south to Patagonia, October-March offers the warmest weather. The Atacama Desert, the Central Valleys and Santiago can be visited year-round, although summer temperatures in the Atacama Desert (from January-March) can reach 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius). The Easter Islands enjoy pleasant temperatures throughout the year, although March and April are usually ideal times to visit when the weather has cooled and there are fewer tourists.
