Frequently Asked Questions

  •
Do you need a visa to travel to Brazil?
Citizens from the US, Canada and Australia require a visa to travel to Brazil, but those from the UK, New Zealand, Germany and France do not. You can find out more by consulting with the Brazilian embassy or consulate in your home country.
  •
    Is Brazil safe?
While not entirely deserved, Brazil does have a reputation for being a dangerous place to travel. In reality, if you take sensible precautions it’s highly unlikely that you’ll be the victim of serious crime.
One of the main issues to be aware of is assaltos (hold-ups). Generally, these happen at night in major cities, and usually in quiet backstreets, so be sure to keep to well-lit and busy areas. When possible, take a taxi rather than walking. It’s best not to carry valuables around with you, and only take out as much money as you need. If you are unfortunate enough to be the victim of a hold-up, hand over your possessions and do not put up a resistance.
  •
When is the best time to visit Brazil
Due to Brazil’s immense size, the climate can vary significantly between regions. The Amazon region has a rainy and dry season, while the south of Brazil experiences extreme seasonal changes and cooler temperatures in winter (June-September). The hot and humid summer months between December and February are perfect for enjoying Brazil’s coastal cities and beaches. The best time for wildlife-watching in the Pantanal is between July-October, when the rainfall is at its lowest and animals congregate around shrinking watering holes.
