    For travel up to 90 days, tourists from the US, Canada, EU countries, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the UK and most Caribbean countries do not need a visa when visiting Guyana. All travellers to Guyana must have a passport with at least six months of remaining validity and on onward plane ticket if arriving by air.

    Is Guyana safe?
    Most travellers have a trouble-free experience in Guyana, but the country does suffer from high levels of crime. In particular, women are advised not to head out on their own at night in cities and towns. Once you’re out of the cities and especially in the savannahs and interior, travel in Guyana is generally very safe. Please note, the Zika virus is still present in Guyana so women that suspect they might be pregnant should take every possible precaution against mosquito bites.

    When is the best time to visit Guyana?
    Guyana has a tropical climate with balmy temperatures and year-round high humidity. The majority of rainfall generally occurs during May, June, July, December and January. The best time to visit Guyana is straight after the two rainy seasons (at the start of August or end of February) when the vegetation is at its most lush and the waterfalls at their most impressive.
