Our Vietnam and Cambodia tours explore the beauty of Vietnam from the Forbidden Purple City to the soaring mountains of Ha Long Bay. In Cambodia, we step back in time and explore the amazing architecture of Angkor Wat.
Almost immediately on arrival, the vibrancy of Vietnam is felt. It a country that boasts an incredible amount of cultural diversity, and the beauty of landscapes feels timeless and unique. It is a place where modern life and historical events synchronize for an escape like none other. Combine this country with Cambodia, another jewel in the Southeast Asia region, and you'll discover why Vietnam and Cambodia tours are amongst our most popular.
The verdant hills that occupy most of the landscape of Vietnam roll eastward with soaring peaks until they reach the unspoiled beaches fringing much of this country's coastline.
In the south, the Mekong Delta although known as the rice bowl of Vietnam is as famous for its tropical fruit and flowers that grow in abundance in the area. It's a fragrant region and our Vietnam and Cambodia tours explore the many channels and canals by boat to better understand the ecosystem as well as the lives of those who call this place home.
Even in a remote channel of a river system that spans six countries, one is never far from a candid glimpse of locals selling, buying and exchanging from their boats.
Attesting to bygone times, our Vietnam and Cambodia tours will take you along Parisian styled boulevards in cities such as Hanoi, crumbling temples with religious relics such as the Cham's My Son complex, and admire the pagodas found along the Perfume River.
In the nearby Forbidden Purple City in Hue, one can absorb the ambiance of former emperors' power with a Citadel and fortress walls that resemble that of the Forbidden Palace in Beijing.
Recent struggles in Vietnam's history, from the French occupation to the Vietnam War, are best explored and understood by visiting sites such as the Cu Chi Tunnels. Originally dug by hand in the 1940s, this vast tunnel complex was used by thousands to seek refuge during the war.
Vietnam is ultimately much more than a country that suffered greatly from war in the mid-20th century. A boat ride along Ha Long Bay, an area with incredible karst landscapes and mountains rising straight out of the water, proves just how beautiful this area is as well as why the Vietnamese are so proud to call this country home.
At the end of each day of explorations, we'll enjoy a meal in a local restaurant to taste the complex cuisine influenced by the French and Chinese, but one that utilizes local ingredients to create incredible, delicious meals.
Moving westward, our Vietnam and Cambodia tours continue to what was once the home to the Khmer Kingdom and is still home to one of the world's most incredible architectural wonders: Angkor Wat.
The 12th century temple is considered one of the finest religious structures in the world, and it is not uncommon to wander the alleys that are nearly being engulfed by jungle to discover artists and monks equally in awe of this majestic place.
If it is a region of intrigue and diversity you are after, with a chance to explore history and be amazed by the natural elements, then our Vietnam and Cambodia tours are just right for you.

I enjoyed ALL the excursions but really liked the visit to the Hill Tribes, Ha Long Bay, Cu Chi Tunnels and the cruise on the Mekong along with the floating markets, Hue s Pagoda, and cooking class. There are no words except awesome to describe Angkor Wat - a must see on my destinations list. I never experienced a boring or uninteresting day! The guides were good. Transportation was certainly comfortable and at times quite interesting! Canoes or junks anyone! Our tour leader handled everything with exceptional grace, leadership and good humor. She was very helpful when presented a question or problem. She has excellent organization skills, is thorough and follows through. She was friendly, did not show favoritism, has a good sense of humor, displays concern and is a good leader. So happy I went.

Always patient and good sense of humour. He [Tour Leader Chris] worked long, hard hours at time and he never showed that he was tired or impatient. He was godlike!

This was one of the most out of the box experience I have had in my life. I have traveled extensively but I believe it was the culture of the countries and the people. I feel blessed. The itinerary was very exciting and gave an overview of both countries. I especially enjoyed seeing he local villages in contrast to the cities. Most memorable ... Hanoi ,Halong Bay, the restaurants, Hoi An ,wonderful, the entire Mekong river experience, Saigon memorable and the Killing Fields quite striking and touching. The guides were very well trained. I especially enjoyed their account of the history of the country. I thoroughly enjoyed the local cuisine. Especially the restaurants where they were training the young people as servers . Very worthwhile excursion. Also the variety in the local cuisine and Pam's (tour leader) knowledge of the cuisine.
+Donna N. (North Vancouver, BC, CA)
All of the excursions were excellent and the local guides were well informed, very personable and struck a good balance between the amount of information they provided and the need for "quiet time." The junk cruise on Halong Bay was outstanding. Dien Bien Phu and the hill tribes was a look into history and culture not to be missed. We enjoyed every excursion on this trip.
+James M. (Sidney, BC, CA)
I enjoyed all excursions, but found the ChuChi tunnels very interesting. The temples were all different and extremely interesting. We found all the guides to be very informative, open and interesting. They all had personal stories that moved us and showed a different glimpse of their respective areas. I don t think that any improvement could have been made. They did not shy away from any questions and I think answered all of them with candor and honesty. It certainly improved our knowledge of Vietnam and Cambodia. The meals met and exceeded our expectations. Some of the presentations were amazing. Erin always made meal time fun and entertaining. Erin was and is a gem. She was informative, open and funny and yet maintained good control. We either called her our Fearless Leader or the Countess (she counted us all the time). She mingled with each member of the tour, shared many stories and shared her infectious laugh. We know she toiled deep into the night and still was bright and cheery the next day. We were very impressed with the tour and Erin made it even better.

My favourite excursions were Halong Bay junk cruise, loved everything about Hoi Anne, loved the Mekong Delta excursion and the floating markets. All of the local guides were very knowledgable and provided excellent services especially Bien in Saigon area. Transportation was well organized and comfortable, very courteous bus drivers and assistants. Loved the variety and local cuisine selected by Erin our tour leader. Erin was very professional, never late, very organized, great sense of humor, great at presenting us with surprises, able to deal with many personality types. Loved her. She presented information well and was apparent that she had a good knowledge of the areas. We loved her and after the experience with Erin as our tour guide we would definitely consider another tour. This was an excellent tour.

Superb, first-rate vacation that made me feel like I was truly living an experience. I was immersed in local culture from the first day and so I never felt like an outsider looking in at Vietnam and Cambodia, rather I was experiencing it from the point of view of an insider. Laura is exceptional and is a magnificent ambassador for Adventures. She was unflappable, capable, always cheerful and charming. I never saw her lose her cool with anybody and yet she was very businesslike in how she got things done on the road. No detail was left undone. She overlooked nothing. Laura was den mother, nurse, insider, expert, diplomat - in short she was perfect.
+Neil H. (Lancashire, LA, GB)
We enjoyed all the excursions. The buses were clean and comfortable. Erin, our tour leader, was excellent. Erin was well prepared for the places we visited .We were impressed by her depth of knowledge. She is very professional, knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, concerned for the welfare of her group. The holiday fully met our expectations.
+William H. (Lutherville, MD, US)
I have been on a number of Adventures Abroad tours and I can say that Laura Rudderforth is among the best of your tour leaders--very possibly the best of all. Nothing was a problem for her. If difficulties arose, she dealt with them very effectively and decisively. She did a number of things to make the tour a very positive experience for all of us. I am sure we all commend her for her good work, attention to detail, and depth of knowledge.

Seasonality and Weather
Our tours in SE Asia operate during the cooler, drier time of year, Nov-Apr. That said, however, the entire region experiences a warm-hot tropical climate with humidity and a chance of rain showers at any time. Inland regions can experience extreme heat, especially Feb-Apr, when it is also very dry and landscapes are brown. Coastal regions-Central Vietnam, Halong Bay-are cooled by sea breezes. Hanoi & Northern Vietnam can be downright cold and damp, especially late Nov-Jan. Overall you should prepare for warm, sticky weather with the possibility of rain and some chilly nights / mornings in a few locales.
Transport and Travel Conditions
Land transport throughout will be by private air-conditioned bus. Most of the driving days are not long, usually no more than four hours. Road conditions are generally not good and progress can be slow. Boats are used at various points in the itinerary, and vary from converted trawlers to small riverboats. Internal flights via scheduled regional carriers.
The tour is not strenuous though it is busy; you must be steady on your feet and be able to endure some heat and long days. We have numerous walking tours and visit several sites that are LARGE with steps and uneven surfaces. Porters are available at hotels but you must be able to manage with your baggage at airports.
