In Southern Africa, game-viewing is best in the dry winter months from May to October. The wet summer season runs from December to March, which brings humid weather and lush vegetation.

The best time to see wildlife in West Africa is from October to March, when the weather is dry and warm. Winds from the Sahara Desert can cause dusty conditions from the end of November to mid-March.

Most of North Africa has a typical Mediterranean climate. The spring season, especially from March to May, is the best time to visit because of the mild weather.

East Africa is a vast region with many unique areas, so there’s always a great time to visit. The weather is cool and dry in Kenya and Tanzania from July-September. Prime wildlife watching runs from June-September in Uganda and Rwanda while Zanzibar’s climate is warm and dry from June-October.

East Africa: There are 20 countries in East Africa, this includes Ethiopia, Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mayotte, Mozambique, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Seychelles Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
North Africa: This region covers five countries: Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia.
West Africa: A total of 16 countries make up West Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
Southern Africa: The United Nations considers this region to include five countries: Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa.
