You might wonder at the title of this post as our Adventures Abroad group is only heading to the island of Santa Cruz at the end of our stay in this wondrous archipelago. However, for the vast majority of visitors to the Galapagos, the airport on nearby Baltra Island is the most likely landing spot and after a short ferry ride to Santa Cruz, their adventure begins. So it is the gateway island, just not for us. We will be making our way there by boat after spending three terrific days on Isabela. So hop aboard and we'll find out why Santa Cruz is quite different from the other islands on the Galapagos.

This is my final post from a June 2022 tour of Switzerland with Adventures Abroad led by our good friend and tour leader Victor Romagnoli. Although over nine months have passed since Alison and I took this trip with Victor, I can remember each day of it as if it was last week, the trip was that remarkable. It included a perfect combination of alpine hiking, amazing train rides and city walking tours. In the last post, I featured a great day on Mount Rigi which we arrived at by boat from Lucerne followed by a funicular ride up to the top. In this post, we'll visit the Swiss capital city of Bern and spend the day exploring it on foot. Please come along with us.

In the last post, our Adventures Abroad group enjoyed a day on the water visiting the famed Kicker Rock on the island of San Cristobal. Our two days on the island were just enough to get a taste of what makes the Galapagos archipelago so unique and now we will continue to find out more about the islands as we travel to Isabela, the largest of the group. Here we hope to see some of the species that can only be found in the Galapagos including its unique penguins, flamingos and giant tortoises. This is my penultimate post from the fantastic June 2022 trip to Switzerland with Adventures Abroad, led by our good friend and Tour Leader Victor Romagnoli. It is listed as one of the company's Top 10 favourite tours and it has lived up to that standard in every way. In the last post, I made some suggestions for exploring the wonderful city of Lucerne. In this post, we'll hop on a boat and motor along this magical lake to Vitznau where we will board one of Europe's oldest funicular railways for the journey up to the summit of Mount Rigi from where we will make our way back down at a leisurely pace. It promises to be another wonderful day in Switzerland and I hope you'll come along to enjoy it.
