Tour Overview

Touching down in Nice, the capital of the Riviera and one of its oldest cities -- founded as it was by the Greeks in about 350 BC -- we begin our active adventure through one of France's most rewarding and popular regions in style. We explore the Old Town, the labyrinthine streets and beautiful gardens before we set off for the trailhead at Grande Randonnee and the beginning of our hike, which takes us past lush vineyards and quaint villages in the foothills of the Dentelles de Montmirail range. Stopping off in mediaeval towns renowned for natural springs, centuries-old fortresses, Roman ruins, Provencal fabrics and restaurants offering the most delicious of culinary delicacies, we alternatively walk and hike over varied and beautiful terrain and see the best of the man-made and natural environments of this striking area of continental Europe. Reaching as far south as Avignon, we cover considerable distance on our travels and end on a high note with trips to the dazzling Versailles and the ever-memorable Paris.
