Tour Overview

As our plane glides over the 2, 000 year old Nazca Lines, we can hear about some of the theories as to why the ancient Nazca people put so much time and effort into constructing these massive engraved image across the landscape. No one really knows what purpose these anomalies served, but seeing the intricate detail in the shapes of large monkeys or dogs suggests that these structures were of some importance at one time. Then it's off to Machu Picchu, where we have another chance to get a bird's-eye view of these structures by climbing the surrounding slopes. The legacy of ancient civilizations is not limited to these two world-renowned sites, but evidence of a lively past lies around every corner. Visit the Coricancha, also known as the Temple of the Sun, and realize how suiting it was to being one of the most important sites of the great Inca Empire.
