SAUDI ARABIA > WELCOMING TRAVELLERS

Saudi desert

It used to be that a holy pilgrimage to Mecca or a work visa were the only viable reasons for setting foot on a plane bound for this Arab kingdom, but recently the government began warming to tourism and issuing visas to tour operators. Our 16-day trip (code QSD) is a comprehensive cultural and historical exploration of this fascinating desert kingdom. Our route describes a fascinating loop through Riyadh, Jeddah, the Al-Jouf region, Al-Ula Oasis, and Najran, known for its "Yemeni" style architecture. Go to our website to pull up the detailed itinerary. Next departure: fall 2010.

TURKEY
LATE AVAILABILITY!

Victoria Falls

We still have some space on the spring departure of our exciting tour of Eastern Turkey and our September 2010 departure is already starting to book. Already travelled to Western Turkey? The lesser-known East is like a world unto itself, distinct from the well-trodden tourist paths along the Aegean. Scenically stunning and culturally diverse, this rich land boasts a rich medley of influences—Armenia, Arabic, Kurdish, Persian and tribal. Spring and fall are the best times to visit, with May wildflowers blanketing the hills and marketplaces overflowing with summer produce in September.

Browse through these Eastern Turkey itineraries:
TE2 - 17 days; TE4 - 27 days; TE6 - 32 days, or search by country on our website.

THE BALTIC STATES
REGIONAL ADVENTURE

Lithuania castle

This region has become the most dynamic tourist destination in all of Europe. Though usually lumped together, one of the wonders of visiting the Baltics—Lithuantia, Latvia and Estonia—is discovering the differences in the three countries. Visitors can see first-hand the differences in architecture, mood, style, culture and history. Proud and resilient like the land, the peoples of the Baltics retained their distinct cultures and traditions through years of oppression in the former Soviet Union. Join us in the spring and experience the modern culture of a region blossoming on the borders of Europe. Code BS1, or BS2 to enjoy a continuation on to St Petersburg.

BS1 Highlights: Vilnius walking tour; Hill of Crosses: compelling memorial; Cosmopolitan Riga; Tallinn: one of Europe's best preserved old towns; Helsinki: 'Daughter of the Baltic'

'THE FIVE STANS' > SELLING OUT FAST!

Our new tour of the "Five Stans" (code CA3) is selling faster than anything in recent memory. There is still limited space on September/October 2010, and April 2011 is already booking up. This a fascinating and nicely priced, 18-day exploration of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and the Kyrgyz Republic (formerly Kyrgyzstan), with the option of extending to Western China
(code CA4). This tour is capped at 21 participants and will sell out well in advance!

SWITZERLAND
ALMOST GUARANTEED

Switzerland blooms

Our spectacular tour of Switzerland (code SW1) is almost guaranteed for May 2010. The Alps make Switzerland a truly three-dimensional country; from the air or from the valleys, they are truly spectacular. But, aside from the well-packaged images of cowbells, chocolates and Heidi, Switzerland is also the home of some of the world's most sophisticated cities, robust and diverse cultures, and interesting cuisines. Ours is a comprehensive touring experience, from Zurich and the Jungfrau, to Lucerne, Interlaken, Zermatt and St Moritz—even the tiny Principality of Liechtenstein, linked together in an efficient rail-based itinerary that would do our Swiss hosts proud.

RUSSIA'S KAMCHATKA
SPECIAL DEPARTURE

Russia tiger

Senior Tour Leader Vic Romagnoli has been kicking around this idea for years and in July 2010 we're going to make it happen. Victor will be leading this exciting trip, featuring Eastern Russia and the Kamchatka Peninsula with Seoul, Korea, as our jumping off point to Vladivostok, where we enjoy a city tour and a visit to a nearby tiger reserve. An overnight train takes us north into Siberia and Kabarovsk, from which we fly to the Kamchatka Peninsula. No roads connect the peninsula to the rest of the world; indeed, most of our exploration here will occur via helicopter, including the amazing Valley of Geysers and a foray to a remote spot where we encounter the nomadic Even reindeer herders. Join us and Vic in one of the planet's most remote, rugged and culturally distinct corners.

PATAGONIA > STEPPING IT UP

The last running of our Patagonia trek has just concluded to rave reviews! Our trip begins in the sophisticated capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, and includes treks amid the most awesome peaks of Fitzroy and Torres del Paine, as well as the Filo del Fin del Mundo, the "Ridges of the End of the World" on Tierra del Fuego. By trekking standards, this program is rated moderate, as most walking days are 5-8 hours at low elevations and you carry only your daypack. Travelling in vans and utilizing comfortable, fully staffed camps, quaint inns and hosterias, we are able to access this remote part of Patagonia, one of the most spectacular destinations on Earth! WEST AFRICA > TRAVELLER TESTIMONIAL

"I want to compliment Claude and Adventures Abroad for the truly wonderful trip that you provided through the 6 countries of West Africa.Claude

Claude really has it figured out perfect as can be. His timing for getting things done and not missing a single sight/site is impeccable...The guys he has helping him through these countries were great also...we had lost a day due to the elections in Ghana, but our guide through Togo ran to the large market for me because I collect key chains from every country and he brought me back a really nice one while I feasted on lobster. And, when we got to Benin finally, they figured it all out so we didn't miss anything. Kudos!

Claude made sure our meals would fit in with our sightseeing and voodooing; he really did a tremendous job."
