Panama.
Activity Level: 2

These are particularly busy tours that feature a lot of moving around, sometimes by train and short journeys on local transport. Walking tours of towns and cities are leisurely but you should be prepared to be on your feet for several hours. Some of our cultural trips that occur at high altitude and/or require greater independence with baggage handling (at hotels, airports, train stations) also fall into this category.
Tour Style: Cultural

These three- and four-star hotel-based, "soft adventure" trips concentrate on the culture, history, and natural attributes of our destination. Though there are no strenuous activities built into these tours, you need to be prepared for some full days with some early starts, plenty of walking on uneven surfaces through villages, cities and archaeological sites, and not a lot of "down time." Independence, reasonable fitness, and an ability to be steady on one's feet are critical in order for you to get the most out of these programs.

Tour Leaders
Tour Leaders for Panama Tours
Our Panama tour leaders have a deep understanding of the country and its people. They’ll make sure you get to see the best of the country’s natural beauty, major attractions and some of its less-visited regions. Some of our tour leaders who have led these tours.
Andres Fernandez Growing up in an international environment allowed me to interact with people from different cultures and learn from them. I would say that's when I became a traveler... To me, traveling is not only about the sites and highlights of a destination, it's mostly about the people and their history, about how they solve things. It's about their lives! Read More
Chris Tripodi Chris travels because it is the most interesting thing he can think of doing between meals. Anyone can buy a plane ticket, but helping a country come alive through its people, sights, culture, cuisine and customs is what Adventures Abroad is all about. Chris enjoys the inevitable challenges, the unforgettable moments, the warm people, the stories shared, the memories made, and every single morsel of each tour. Read More
Colette Louise Living a transitory lifestyle whenever I’ve had the means to do so has become a source of personal inspiration, mindfulness, growth and exchange. Convinced there is beauty in all things / people / places, I’m always anticipating the sights and sounds of any place I drift to next! Read More
Sierra Searing Sierra's dream in life is to explore every corner of the globe. When not travelling (and also while travelling), she loves the outdoors, wildlife, and photography and spends most weekends hiking, no matter the season or weather. Read More

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
ASK A QUESTION
01. Do you need a visa to travel to Panama?
Citizens of the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Ireland do not need a visa when travelling to Panama.
02. Is Panama safe?
While Panama has a reputation for being unsafe, the reality is that it’s much safer than the majority of Central American countries. It’s worth noting that crime is prevalent in certain areas of Panama City and rates of street crime are also high in the city of Colón.
03. When is the best time to visit Panama?
While Panama has a tropical climate, the weather ranges significantly depending on where you travel. While the lowlands are hot and humid, the highlands can be chilly (with variations based on the elevation) and nighttime temperatures can plummet. Overall, the best time to visit Panama is during the dry season (late December to the end of April). During these months, the skies are clear and trekking is much easier compared to the rainy season, which takes place from May to December.
